The Keanu Reeves comic series BRZRKR: the immortal saga continues had its first panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 to announce an upcoming anime. With its first Comic Con 2022 panel, the anime announced that Production IG is producing the series. The series is slated for two full seasons from now.
Netflix first announced the series in March 2021. This announcement was to say that they had acquired the rights to the original comic book series from BOOM! Studios. The story for BRZRKR: the immortal saga continues is described as follows;
BRZRKR is a brutally epic saga about an immortal warrior’s 80,000-year struggle through the ages. The man known only as B is half mortal and half god, cursed and forced into violence… even the sacrifice of his sanity. Keanu Reeves and ‘BRZRKR’: The animation powerhouse behind it
Netflix said it would adapt the story into a feature film first, followed by an anime spin-off. Now, the streaming service has also added that the anime series will “further expand the BRZRKR universe by exploring different elements of the series. Reeves will reprise his role and voice his character. The series of comics for BRZRKR includes Keanu Reeves as a writer alongside Matt Kindt and artist Ron Garney.
Production IG is behind many big names in the anime community. The company has worked on notable titles such as Ghost in the Shell, Kuroko’s Basketball, Psycho Pass, and Haikyu!!. The studio has been animating since 1987 and has since garnered more than enough praise over the years for its prowess.
