HBO Max launched as a streaming service in May 2020. As of April 2021, it had over 40 million subscribers. While Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, and Disney Plus have a lot to offer as competing platforms, HBO Max contains many types of TV series and movies, like the anime.
With each passing year, the anime becomes more and more popular all over the world; Therefore, non-animated streaming services such as HBO Max and Netflix have taken the initiative to expand their library of Japanese animation. In addition to a solid selection of movies, HBO’s streaming service offers plenty of cartoon shows.
Updated August 22, 2021 by Mark Sammut: HBO Max has an impressive library of animated series. It’s not particularly huge, but the streaming service offers a lot of quality content. The service has such an exciting collection of shows, cartoons such as Blue Exorcist, Dr. Stone, KonoSuba and 91 Days fail to make the cut for the best anime on HBO Max, and these series are all at the limit of quality. While waiting for the end of the new episodes of the programs currently being broadcast, check out these animated series available on the HBO streaming service. On the film side, HBO Max owns most of Studio Ghibli’s filmography.
To your eternity
Beginning in the lively spring 2021 season, To your eternity is a touching journey on growth, friendship and self-discovery. It follows a strange Orb that can take the form of anything it touches, whether they are inanimate objects such as a boulder, or living things like a wolf or a human.
As the Orb transforms, it expands its understanding of the world and unleashes the ability to feel different emotions or explore unique perspectives. To your eternity concerns the (immortal) life of that being.
Re: ZERO -Start life in another world-
A die best anime isekai all time, Re: ZERO -Start life in another world- does not take long to separate from other entries of its kind. Subaru accidentally finds himself teleported to another world, where he almost immediately meets a girl he falls in love with. He also died soon after, although he did eventually get better.
Re: Zero is a character study rather than an action or adventure series, as it shatters Subaru’s initially off-putting personality and forces him to grow up in a punitive setting. Psychological trauma is also a constant theme throughout the series.
Bungo Stray Dogs
Cartoons about the overpowered people coming together in an organization to protect a city cost a dime a dozen, and Bungo Stray Dogs does not initially seem so different from the average series. Season 1 is a fun but unspectacular shoot, but the show improves dramatically after that point.
Bungo Stray DogsThe sparkle lies in his exploration of the history of his characters, especially Osamu Dazai and Ryūnosuke Akutagawa. In some ways, this is a gangster anime, only with characters who can transform into tigers or create illusions.
Based on the manga by Kei Sanbe and adapted by A-1 Pictures, Erased has an instantly engaging premise. After suffering a personal tragedy, Satoru Fujinuma is sent back almost two decades in the past as a child, offering him the opportunity to change his destiny.
Erased uses her time travel gadget to tell a deeply human story that touches on themes of abuse. It’s not an easy shoot, and the ending tends to be polarizing, but Erased is fantastic for about 95% of its stroke.
A classic anime about a wandering samurai who wishes to put his bloodshed days behind him, Rurouni Kenshin is still a fascinating watch more than 20 years after its debut. Kenshin is not only one of the best swordsmen in the anime, but he’s also a great all-around protagonist. The supporting characters are also universally strong, including a brilliant villain in Shishio Makoto.
The anime loses some momentum towards the end as it descends into filler territory, but the manga’s adapted content is stellar.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica
In some ways, Puella Magi Madoka MagicaThe enduring popularity of has slightly diminished its impact. The turn of the series has become so well known that anyone familiar with the anime will walk into the series knowing what to expect. That said, Puella Magi Madoka Magica withstands repetitive viewings due to his willingness to destroy his characters, pushing them a hundred times beyond their limits.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica is a tough watch in the best possible way. This magical girl anime is a work of art.
Mob Psycho 100

Mob Psycho 100The animation is absolutely fantastic and the story hits surprisingly hard.

Light’s murders trigger an investigation by the enigmatic L.
The promised imaginary land

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood was released in the spring of 2009 and produced by Bones. This anime is about brothers Elric, Edward and Alphonse. These are alchemists who attempted to resuscitate their mother through human transmutation, a forbidden act. In the process, Edward loses his left leg and his right arm and Alphonse loses his whole body. Edward was able to affix Alphonse’s soul to an armor and they set off on a journey to retrieve Alphonse’s body (along with Edward’s limbs).
To do this, they need the Philosopher’s Stone. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is the ultimate shonen anime; one that contains brilliant action, unforgettable characters, poignant moments, and wacky humor. The latter might not always fit, but it’s still pretty hilarious in a vacuum.
